On one of the last really perfect fall days this year, Lauren + Matt and I went for a walk through one of Kitchener's best parks - Huron Natural Area. This is a big space with water, forest and meadows... lots of different looks. On this particular fall day, there was a soft gold sunset and beautiful colours in the trees.
I was super excited to go out for these photos with Emma + Lukas. This summer I went camping a few times with my family and on one of our trips we stayed right beside the Elora Gorge. As we walked along stretches of the gorge I saw some great locations for photos (so many...). So anyways, fall comes around and Emma + Lukas and I start talking engagement photos. They told me they wanted to get out into nature... so I suggested we go check out some of these spots along the gorge that I'd hiked earlier in the season with my family. They liked the idea and we got a magnificent fall day for the shoot. I'm super stoked with how these came out:)
Eitan and Carly are getting married in June in an intimate park wedding in Toronto. Eitan is one of the brightest and most genuine people I know and has been a good friend of mine since we attended University of Guelph together. He and Carly seem perfectly suited for each other:) I feel so privileged to be part of their wedding celebration... photos from the wedding will be out mid-summer. For their engagement photos, I met Carly and Eitan in Guelph, the city where they first met, where everything began:)
Tim + Kathleen are downtown Kitchener people. They live downtown, work downtown, run downtown... (well... that last one is more a Kathleen thing!) They're getting married at The Walper Hotel and wanted to keep the downtown vibe going for engagement photos. We hit up Victoria Park on a perfect summer evening. The bench is where the went for one of their first ever dates:)
Dylan & Shannon are getting married this summer at The Church or Our Lady in Guelph. We headed out to the Arboretum for their engagement photos. It was a cool day... perfect for blankets, a bit of wine and a sunset :)
Brian and Cara got engaged at Pinery Provincial Park, on the beach. We decided to go back there for photos. We started off walking through the woods where they hiked on the day they got engaged, then we went down to the beach and revisited the place where Brian proposed. It was a warm fall evening, just barely warm enough to dip your toes in the waters of Lake Huron.
Shawn & Rebecca met at a horse farm. The farm is Shawn's mom's... he worked there through university and Rebecca boarded her horse there. They met and hit it off and are getting married next summer at Steckle Heritage Farm in Kitchener. We walked the property on a beautiful evening in early fall. Here are some of the best shots :)
We met to take a walk just before sunset - Hayley + Dan and their dog Reggie - it was warm and perfect and the evening was quiet. These are highlights from a very fun engagement session in the Arboretum :)
The wedding is next summer at Steckle Heritage Farm... watch for more photos from H&D in 2018! This is Terri + Steve. They're getting married next summer at Steckle Heritage Farm. We went for a walk in the forest a few weeks back when the trees still had leaves. Really excited for the wedding next summer :)
Nicole and Dustin are getting married next summer at Steckle Heritage Farm (a very good place!). When it came time for some engagement photos they knew they wanted their kids along, so we went for an autumn walk just before sunset. I love how the pics turned out.
The West Montrose Covered Bridge has been around for over 100 years. It's the only bridge of it's kind still in use in the province. Over the years it's developed a reputation - they call it 'the kissing bridge'. Marty and Rene are from the area and figured it'd be great for their engagement photos. I met them there on a perfect summer evening. They showed up in a firetruck, borrowed for the evening from Marty's firehall. Rene and Marty are getting married in September at Steckle Heritage Farm. They've arranged to bring an antique firetruck to the farm for photos. Very much looking forward to pairing the antique truck and the old buildings in the photos :)
Colin and April are getting married next summer at Steckle Heritage Farm. Steckle is favourite venue of mine - I jump at any chance I get to return there for photos. We went for a walk in the country and took some engagement photos in the evening summer sun.
Their first date was at Failte...Failte is a cozy little pub in Waterloo, quiet when we stopped in, though it has its busy times too. A few years back Jess and Neill met here for their first date. They connected right away and haven't looked back. I'm very excited to be photographing their wedding in October at the newly renovated Walper Hotel in Kitchener.
I met Neill and Jess at the pub after they finished work for the day. We ordered pints, took some photos, reminisced about days gone by and then went for a walk in the warm evening sun. Here's some of the session... A Walk Through Victoria Park in KitchenerOn what I thought would be the last snowy day of the year (we've had several more surprisingly snowy days since), Thea & Geoff and I went for a walk through Victoria Park in Kitchener for their engagement photos. They're getting married this summer at Burning Kiln Winery near Hamilton. Thea really wanted snowy engagement photos, so I was happy that we got a perfect day - snow in the air, snow on the ground and not super cold. Here are some favourites :) want to see the weddings gallery?
We met for a coffee at Seven Shores in Waterloo...The warm drinks and homey atmosphere made for a good start. We found a somewhat quiet table (it's a pretty happening place!) and took a few photos. we left the warm bustle of Seven Shores and stepped outside into winter... want to see the weddings gallery?
It's been a pretty warm and pleasant autumn this year and the day that I met up for a walk with Lisa & Josh was one of those great days. We took a stroll along the Grand River with their two dogs, stopping here and there for some photos... what it's like taking a 13yr old pug for a walk... Josh is an avid golfer... he thought it'd be fun to work the clubs into a few photos :)
I took a walk around uptown and Waterloo Park with Jessica & Sean. It was a real fall day... kind of cool, kind of wet. Here are a few favourites from the session... Toward the end of the shoot, it started raining. We ducked into one of the gazebos in the park that overlook the water. Some of the posts were decorated with hearts, which gave the photos a really neat feel. I love the raindrops on the water. see the weddings gallery?
