I was photographing a wedding at The Pillar And Post...
... and I was delighted to find that they had decorated one of their halls with prints from a favourite artist of mine - AJ Casson. I love Casson's work. He likes shapes and angular representations, reflections, shadows. He has this uncanny way of using lighting to create mood, of using contrasts to draw the eye. When I had an opportunity to, I stepped my way down the hall and spent a minute with each painting. It kept the day fresh and lively for me as I continued my work. I took a quick shot of each one, so I could share the story (they always look better live!)
I love how the foreground is dark in the next piece, while the area where the house sits is in brighter sunlight. I get an 'almost there' kind of feeling. Or maybe 'things are about to brighten up'.
