Photography at Vibrant Farms
I spent the afternoon shooting chickens... (camera style of course)
It was just me, my gear and a hundred or so laying hens and roosters... and I had a blast. I was out at Vibrant Farms taking shots of their chickens for an upcoming edition of RARE REPUBLIC, an online magazine dedicated to all things good food. Vibrant Farms does things the natural way - no GMO's in the feed, no antibiotics or hormones... I could go on, but this is about photos. Take me out for coffee and I'll chat you up about food.
The birds at Vibrant are pastured in the warmer months, inside for the winter. The barn has some great south-facing windows that let in lots of natural light for the birds in the winter. The natural light gave the photos a nice vibe. I think this one is my favourite... (the roosters kept an eye on me)
Here are a few more of my favourites from the day. The birds seemed to like hanging out around the windows - so I wound up with some cool shots of them basking in the sunshine or in little silhouetted groups.
And the end product... lots of beautiful brown eggs!
