We met for a coffee at Seven Shores in Waterloo...The warm drinks and homey atmosphere made for a good start. We found a somewhat quiet table (it's a pretty happening place!) and took a few photos. we left the warm bustle of Seven Shores and stepped outside into winter... want to see the weddings gallery?
It's been nearly four years that I've been taking photos for the Watson Family. The very first time we did photos, Zoe was a newborn and Brad & Kristen had yet to move into their home in Central Frederick neighbourhood - a home and an area that have become near and dear over the years. It's been a stunning pleasure to see the family grow and grow up - Zoe, Hux and Eve are all adorable and amazing in their own way. Here are a few favourites from this time around :) see more family photos?
Laura & Mark Get Married in CambridgeLaura and Mark got married at St Clement's Catholic Church in Cambridge - a beautiful old church with spectacular afternoon light. It was a crisp and sunny fall day. I started off meeting Laura at her parents' home in Kitchener. want to see the weddings gallery?
It's been a pretty warm and pleasant autumn this year and the day that I met up for a walk with Lisa & Josh was one of those great days. We took a stroll along the Grand River with their two dogs, stopping here and there for some photos... what it's like taking a 13yr old pug for a walk... Josh is an avid golfer... he thought it'd be fun to work the clubs into a few photos :)
I took a walk around uptown and Waterloo Park with Jessica & Sean. It was a real fall day... kind of cool, kind of wet. Here are a few favourites from the session... Toward the end of the shoot, it started raining. We ducked into one of the gazebos in the park that overlook the water. Some of the posts were decorated with hearts, which gave the photos a really neat feel. I love the raindrops on the water. see the weddings gallery?
It was a Saturday in late September that felt like an early August evening. It was warm, sunny and fall was just starting to show in the leaves. Robin & Jaron got married at Grey Silo Golf in Waterloo. Here are some of my favourite photos from their wedding... want to see the weddings gallery?
It was a wonderfully sunny day in October... ... and I tagged along with Josh & Andrea + family for a walk along the river. The kids threw rocks in the water, explored a stream bed and climbed some old stairs. Andrea's parents joined us for the adventure.
Eline & Mike + Owen and Charlie I went for a walk in Victoria Park with Mike & Eline and their two boys. We spent most of our time around the island, on a day that was wonderfully sunny and just a bit cool. I was told Owen wasn't too fond of the camera, but he did great... check out that smile :) Owen's younger brother Charlie... want to see the family gallery?
Family Photographer in Cambridge Dan & Jaime asked me to come over to take a family photo for a holiday card and then to see if we could nab a few candids. Their daughter, Kensie, is a year-and-a-half and is absolutely adorable. The dog did her best to wiggle into as many photos as possible... these are a few favourites from my visit to the Yanke home. see more family photos?
A Cottage Wedding on the Moon River in Bala Heading to Bala in late August is such a good feeling. August is my favourite time of year and being in Muskoka is just the best. This particular weekend was as great as they come. Dawson & Alanna asked me to come up and take photos at their wedding. It was held at a family cottage on the Moon River in Bala. What a great place for a wedding :) The guys got ready at Dawson's place, right next door to his dad's cottage (where the festivities would be held). Not a bad view eh? over at the other cottage... the ceremony was held on the beach, backdropped by a perfect Muskoka day the guests enjoyed a seriously amazing cocktail hour... and Alanna and Dawson took a boat ride down to the Bala Falls - a beautiful local landmark with an uncertain and contentious future... (google 'Bala Falls' if you're curious) after supper the sun set over the water... A&D had their first dance on the beach when darkness settled on the Moon River, the fireworks came out. It was quite a show :) see the weddings gallery?
A few weeks back I met up with Sarah & Byron and their two sons, Dylan and Blake, for some photos at their home in Etobicoke. The session was a gift from Sarah's sister and brother-in-law, Ali and Ty. I had done Ali & Ty's wedding photos two summers past (and had met Byron and Sarah and Dylan that day. Blake, the youngest, wasn't yet on the scene). These are some highlights from the session. This first one is one of my favourite photos this year. I love how the trees frame the tire and how the tire frames Dylan. I love the sunburst. And I generally just really like the feel of the photo... the summer, the joy, that sort of thing :) This is Blake, Dylan's younger brother. He's a champ. see the family gallery?
Photos at Steckle Heritage Farm in Kitchener Steckle Heritage Farm is a special place - I can't say enough good about the place. They're an amazing education center, veggie grower and wedding/event venue. Ash worked there a few years back and arranged for us to stop by for some photos. Here's a few favourites :) Sebastian thoroughly enjoyed being outside at the farm... Seb's little bro, Grant... In the orchard at Steckle, a wonderful place to be in September :) Throughout the course of our walk around the farm, I would come to discover that Seb really, really, really likes apples. He's much happier with an apple than without an apple. see more family photos?
Wedding Photos at The Arboretum and Blue Springs Golf Club 'Twas a gorgeous day in August. I made my way over to Guelph to take photos for Trevor and Jocelyn. Their parents live on the same street - the guys got ready on the south side and the girls on the north. This is the first look in the backyard... After the first look the wedding party took a limo over to The Arboretum for photos. I love this place :) The ceremony was at Blue Springs Golf Club - they've got this amazing little shaded area that Trevor & Jocelyn used for the ceremony. Tall trees and green all around :) The reception, also at Blue Springs... see the weddings gallery?
Amy & Graham get Married at the Family Farm These are the highlights from Amy & Graham's wedding at Braeside - the family farm. I arrived early and had the pleasure of taking a quick tour around the farm with Amy's dad. He filled me in on the history of the place, which was great. It was nice to know some of the story. Throughout the day, as people spoke of the farm and all the memories centered there, the picture I had formed of Braeside grew - I had a sense of the laughs and tears the walls had seen, the generations that had walked the earth there and swum in the cool, spring fed pond by the willow. I knew by the end of the day that Amy and Graham's wedding was the next chapter in the history of Braeside. Here's how it went down. before the guests arrived, Graham and Amy met for a first look under the big old willow by the pond... 'liquid courage' :-) want to check out the weddings gallery?
Amanda & Brennan's Wedding in KitchenerBrennan & Amanda got married at Steckle Heritage Farm in Kitchener (I love this place!). I started off my day with the ladies and then headed over to the farm. You wouldn't know it from the photos, but it poured rain right before the ceremony. This was not a little sprinkle of rain... it was a torrent dropped from a big angry thundercloud. The good folks at Steckle got the ceremony quickly moved from the orchard to inside the barn and everything went off without a hitch :) By the time the ceremony was over, the day was hot and sunny... the remnants of the earlier weather made for some dramatic skies. The food was created by Little Mushroom Catering, who knocked it right out of the park - the supper was outstanding. After the meal Brennan had a song for Amanda... want to see the weddings gallery?Chris & Pam's Wedding in AveningPam and Chris got married in a tiny little town on the route up to Collingwood, a place called Avening. It's not much more than a few houses and this old hall - The Avening Hall. The hall has a quite a history, dating back over a hundred years when it served as a gathering place for the local farmers. Walking through the doors feels a little like stepping back in time a generation or two. The Avening Hall is still a hub for locals, regularly hosting quality bands (Neko Case, The Sadies, Hayden, Sarah Harmer and lots more) alongside community BBQ's. It's a pretty neat place - stop in if you find yourself passing by. Tucked away, across the road and just a few driveways down, is this amazing little park. Pam and Chris got married beside the river. It was a hot sunny summer day... a perfect day for a wedding in the park. want to see the weddings gallery?Wedding Photos in Victoria Park with Ainslie & LoganSome of my favourite moments from Logan & Ainslie's wedding in Kitchener-Waterloo... enjoy! The first look photos, in the pavilion at Victoria Park in Kitchener... what a great spot to say hello on your wedding day :) The ceremony, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waterloo want to see the weddings gallery?Jess & Jason's Rustic Wedding in KitchenerJessica and Jason got married on July 4, at Steckle Heritage Farm in Kitchener. Here's a look at the day... Jason & Jess nailed the wedding décor at Steckle. They had some great ideas and talented friends and the result was a really nice space. Jessica chose to add a tag from the family dog's collar to her bouquet. Deuce had been in the family home for thirteen years but sadly he passed away not too long before the wedding. You can see him in Jess & Jason's engagement photos. The ceremony was in the apple orchard at Steckle on a brilliant sunny day... The barns and sheds and old outbuildings make Steckle an amazing spot for wedding party portraits... We stopped to play some lawn games, including giant Jenga, which sometimes goes well and sometimes... well, not so much. This next one is probably my favourite photo from the wedding... The reception was in the old barn, a warm place, well used and well loved... want to see the weddings gallery? The Mayer Family is moving...... and they wanted to get some photos done before they moved. It was a wonderfully warm summer day and the grass in the yard was perfectly green. There's just a few weeks left until move day... here's a sampling of the photos :) baseball and soccer and butterflies and diggers... want to see more family photos? |
